Lucas Takes Season Debut At St. Peter's
Following a run to the football state championship game this fall, Lucas made their boy's basketball season debut the weekend before Christmas with a 43-32 win at Mid-Buckeye Conference rival St. Peter's.
Led by Logan Niswander's team-best 13 points, the Cubs would build a 7-4 advantage after the first quarter, extending their lead to 18-11 by the break. Lucas then outscored the Spartans 12-10 in the third and 13-11 in the final frame, despite Jonah Ramey's game-high 16, to closeout their first win of the season.
Riley Gossom scored a dozen Cubs points with Ethan Sauder adding eight. Shawn Perkins-Harris put up eight for St. Peter's while Eli Gurski contributed with five.
Next up for Lucas (1-0) is a date with East Knox at Mount Vernon Nazarene College while the 2-4 Spartans travel to KIPP Columbus.
