Shelby Advances To District Final
ASHLAND -- Top-seeded Shelby (19-3) advanced to the Division II Ashland District championship with a convincing 75-47 win over #6 Huron (11-7) behind TJ Pugh's game-high 26 points, earning Mama's Pizza Player of the Game honors.
The Whippets cruised out to a 28-13 lead heading into the second quarter and never wavered from there. The Tigers deficit grew to 45-28 by the half and saw Shelby enter the fourth quarter with a 58-34 edge behind their run and gun style of play.
A 32-21 rebounding advantage for the Whippets aided their dominant play, forcing Huron into 16 turnovers on the night as well. Shelby's win punches their ticket to the finals on Saturday where they will face Norwalk for the District crown.
