SHELBY --- The Shelby Whippets held off a late comeback attack from SBC River leader Tiffin Calvert 69-65 in a tournament tune-up.

The Senecas (13-4) held the Whippets (13-2) to only 10 points in the opening quarter to hold a slim 11-10 advantage, but Shelby rebounded with a 22 point second quarter to take a 32-28 lead into the break.

The Whippets then outscored Calvert by 5 in the third, but a 25 point fourth quarter forced Shelby to go 13-of-14 from the line in the final 8 minutes to hold on for the victory.
