Whippets Run By Galion To 6-0 Start
It's a perfect 6-0 start for the Shelby boy's basketball team following a 75-47 blowout win over Galion at home in MOAC play.
The Whippets led wire to wire, riding Cody Lantz's eight 1st quarter points to a 21-16 advantage, then outscored the Tigers 14-8 in the second stanza for a 35-24 halftime lead. TJ Pugh would get hot in the 3rd, scoring a dozen of his game-high 22 points in the frame to help Shelby extend their margin to 63-36 heading into the fourth where they cruised to a lopsided victory.
Lantz finished with 17 pts to pace the Whippets offensive attack, along with Jonny Devito who dropped 11 and Grant Hiatt with 10. MOAC leading scorer Isaiah Alsip had 21 to lead Galion with Matt McMullen joining him in double-figures with 11.
Shelby (6-0) will next host Upper Sandusky (5-1) in non-league action while the Tigers (1-5) travel to Ontario (3-2) for a conference showdown.
