An 87-67 victory for Shelby over conference rival Clear Fork in the Division II sectional finals at Willard has the 3rd-seeded Whippets moving on to the District round.

 

High defensive pressure applied by Shelby (18-5) throughout the contest sped up the game which played into the Whippets favor as turnovers and fast-break opportunities allowed the Whippets to produce their highest scoring output of the season.

 

TJ Pugh went off for a game-high 28 points to lead Shelby while Colts (9-15) leading scorer Brennan South was held to just 10 points on the night. Cody Lantz added 19 pts for the Whippets with sophomores Jeremy Hollaway and Andre Hill combined for 23 points off the bench.

 

Ethan Delaney carried the Clear Fork scoring load with 26 points, netting nine of those in the fourth while Brady Tedrow joined him in double-figures with 17.

 

#3 Shelby now moves on to face #4 Norwalk in the Mansfield District semifinals.
