Pirates Gun Down Ontario At Sectionals
Ontario fell into a deep hole in the early goings of the girls basketball Division II Sectional Championships at Plymouth and never recovered, watching the Perkins Pirates sail into Districts with a 58-33 win.
The knockout blow for the fifth-seeded Lady Warriors (10-12) was delivered by Perkins (19-4) in the opening half where they scored 19 consecutive points with the game tied at 10-10, running out to a 20-point halftime lead at 34-14.
Ontario didn't help themselves at the offensive end throughout the night, finishing 26% from the field while senior guard Olivia Howard gashed them at the other end with 14 pts adding 6 steals.
In total, nine Lady Pirates got on the scoreboard with Avery Bing scoring 9, Brenna Jenkins and Abriye Skelton both put up 8 pts while Cameron Kaufman scored 7 pts.
Macy Morgan led the Lady Warriors with 10 pts followed by Kylee Nigh and Carleigh Pearson with 5 and three other players added 4 pts.
Perkins advances to face #1 Bellevue (22-1) in the Ashland District.
