Warriors Get By Upper 7-2 In Sectionals
ONTARIO -- Ontario capitalized on key opportunities throughout their D2 Sectional Semifinal showdown with Upper Sandusky for a 7-2 victory in their final home game of the season.
The game was scoreless through two innings of play before a series of beaned batters and walks led to a pair of Warriors runs in the third. The fourth inning saw #7 Ontario plate two more runs by taking advantage of a pair of costly Rams errors to stretch the lead out to 4-0.
Kyle Walters later increased the Warriors advantage to 5-0 with an RBI double in the fifth, before #9 Upper Sandusky's bats came to life in the following frame. The Rams would bring home two runs with runners on base and nobody out, but Ontario junior pitcher Ryan Chapman settled down and closed out the inning without further damage.
RBI hits by Gage Weaver and Caden Armstrong provided some insurance in the bottom half of the sixth before the Warriors closed out a 5-run victory with Chapman going the distance. Ontario now moves on to face #2 Tiffin Columbian for the Sectional Championship.
