Pearson Goes Berzerk In The 4th,
Pushes Ontario By Lucas 45-35
LUCAS -- It was a rocky road for three quarters for Ontario on the road at Lucas in a Richland County matchup, but Carleigh Pearson would get hot in the fourth tp push the Lady Warriors to a 45-35 win.
In the first half both teams struggled with getting shots off, but rebounds favored Ontario (6-9). At the end of the first half turnovers were problematic for both teams with 9 for the Warriors and 10 for the Cubs (6-8), who started the second half with a slim 20-19 advantage.
By the end of the third quarter, the score was still very close with Ontario only leading by 4 but Pearson would begin to heat up in the closing frame, scoring more than half of her game-high 23 points in the fourth. Pearson's hot play combined with a 36- 28 rebound margin would push the Warriors to a victory inside the Cub Cave.
It was a hard fought battle by both sides, but overall inconsistency and 21 turnovers by the Cubs led to the Ontario win. Pearson had a slow start in the first half, but was named the Mechanic’s Bank player of the game for her smoking hot finish.
