Highland Holds Off Northmor To Stay Atop The KMAC
NORTH BLOOMFIELD --- The Highland Scots used a big fly by Rider Minnick to hold off Northmor 6-3 to remain at the top of the KMAC standings.
Northmor (14-7, 7-6 KMAC) struck first in the bottom of the first on an Andrew Armrose sac fly, but the Scots (19-1, 12-1 KMAC) immediately answered in the top of the second on a Brock Church sac fly to tie things at 1.
Highland then took the lead with two out in the fourth on a Rider Minnick 3-run home run to make it 4-1. They then made it 5-1 in the sixth on an error, but the Golden Knights would chip away in the bottom of the inning when Max Lower came home on a passed ball and PJ Lower scored on a sac fly to cut into the deficit at 5-3.
The Scots got a run back in the top of the seventh on a squeeze play by Dom Carter to finish the scoring, but Northmor did threaten in the bottom with the tying run at the plate, but a fly out would end things.
Highland can clinch at least a share of the KMAC championship with a victory over the Golden Knights in the series finale.
