Ontario Clips Tygers For D2 Sectional
ONTARIO -- Ontario knocked off Mansfield Senior for the second time this season, claiming the D2 sectional crown on Balogh Court with a 57-53 victory.
The score would finish much closer than the feel of the game which saw the second-seeded Warriors (17-5) outduel a hot shooting Tygers (8-11) team in the first 19-17 before seizing control in the middle two quarters. A 12-1 Ontario spurt would put them in a comfortable spot, extending their advantage with 37-28 by the half and outscoring Senior High 12-5 in the third.
Four Warriors would post double-figures scoring, headlined by senior guard Kolten Kurtz who went 5-6 from the field, including 2-3 from 3-point range to lead all scorers with 15 points, followed by Darin Delbrgge with 11 and 10 each from Griffin Shaver and Zach McChristall. The Tygers were without leading scorer Shad Creamer but received 13 pts & 12 rebounds from Maurice Ware.
Ontario now moves on to face #3 Norwalk (16-8) in the D2 Ashland District Semifinals.
