MILLERSBURG -- West Holmes felt slighted by earning the 12th seed in Division III Region 10, and took out their frustration on Madison for the second time this season, battering the Rams 45-10 in the opening round of the playoffs.
Brady Taylor got the Knights (5-2) rolling from the get-go, with four explosive touchdowns in the opening half to put Madison in a deep, early deficit. Taylor caught scoring passes of 54, 22, and 33 yards, and coasted 77-yards down the sideline out of the wildcat to help build a 38-3 halftime cushion.
West Holmes QB Peyton McKinney finished 12-of-26 for 261 yards through the air with 3 TD's, while the Knights defense held Rams QB Hunter Hutcheson to 3 of 11 passing for 25 yards and 2 Int's. Madison (0-7) did get an explosive play late in the fourth, however, when Isaac Brooks broke loose for an 80-yard run in clean up time.
Next up for West Holmes is a trip to Lodi to face #5 Cloverleaf for a spot in the Regional Quarterfinals.
