TIFFIN -- An incredible seesaw battle for a spot in the D2 Regional Final at Tiffin University saw Paige Mowry deliver a walk-off double for Madison to edge Lima Shawnee, 9-8.

 

​The Indians (21-9) had the offensive juices flowing from the start with a trio of runs in the opening inning but the Lady Rams would counter with a pair of scores in the bottom half to make it 3-2. The next two frames saw both sides exchange runs before Madison (17-14) took their first lead at 5-4 in the third with RBI singles from Reagan Hayes and Hope Barrett.

 

​The lone scoreless inning occurred in the fourth before Shawnee hung a three-spot in the fifth, headlined by a 2 RBI single from Haylee Wurm. Hayes pulled the Lady Rams back within a run with a sac fly in the bottom of the inning, but Carmi Winegardner seized momentum right back for the Indians with a solo blast for an 8-6 edge entering the bottom of the sixth.

 

Madison's electric offense again responded to tie the game with Emily Nolan and Olivia Schulz driving in runs to set up Mowry for the game-winning hit. With 2-outs and a full count in the bottom of the seventh, the senior would crack her third hit of the night to go along with 3 RBI as Mowry punched the Lady Rams ticket to the Regional Championship where Madison will face state #1 Keystone for the title.
