WILLARD --- An explosive offensive performance for Madison punched their ticket to the softball Regionals with a dominating 12-2 victory in five innings over Clear Fork at the D2 Willard District Finals.
The Lady Colts (20-9) lit up the scoreboard first on a solo bomb by Maddi Dion in the second, but the Lady Rams (16-14) quickly responded in the bottom half of the frame with a run of their own. A five-run inning from Madison in the third, highlighted by a 2 RBI single from Hope Barrett would get the gain green engine pumping and Clear Fork could not slow it down.
An RBI double from Reghan Barker in the top of the fifth seemed to spark momentum for the Lady Colts, but they could not find a way to get off the field in the bottom of the inning. Madison cranked out five hits to just one out in the game's final inning that saw Barrett smack a walk-off RBI single to clinch the district title.
The Lady Rams will now move on to the Tiffin Regional Semifinals.
