Ashland Runs Madison 11-6
The Ashland Arrows defeated the Madison Rams 11-6 in the D1 Sectional Semifinals to advance in the state baseball tournament.
It was a 1-2-3 inning for Madison to start things off in the first and Ashland would capitalize for the lead with Kamden Mowry scoring on a Rams error in the bottom of the frame to put Ashland ahead 1-0. Madison would control the damage, however, and get out of the inning just letting up a single run.
In the bottom of the third, Mowry would once again get Ashland in the scoring column with an RBI drive to center after a walk, a steal, and a wild pitch for a 2-0 edge. The Arrows would go on to add 3 more runs on a double, an error and a sac fly to make it 5-0 entering the fifth.Thats where Madison would play catchup and score 5 runs of their own, with an RBI triple by Cole Applegate bringing the score to even at 5-5.
Momentum would not favor the Rams for long as the very next inning Ashland would post 4 more runs on solid contact fromMowry, Jon Metzger and Parker Grissinger. Both teams traded runs over the next couple of innings with Madison putting up a run in the 6th, then Ashland would add 2 in the bottom half of the inning bringing us to our final score of 11-6.
