PLYMOUTH -- Cole Wentz shut down Lucas from the hill to carry Plymouth into the D4 Districts with a 3-0 victory over the Cubs for the Sectional crown.

Both pitchers were dominant in the early portion of the contest with the game locked in a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth before the 2nd-seeded Big Red finally got to Lucas ace Andrew Smollen for a run. Wentz later helped his own cause in the fifth by belting an RBI double for a 2-0 edge and would get an insurance score in the sixth courtesy of a Clayton Miller RBI single.

The #5 Cubs would threaten in the top of the seventh with the tying run at the plate but could not capitalize on a pair of Plymouth errors for a single run. Wentz would allow just 4 hits and 0 walks on the day while striking out 7 as the Big Red advance to face #6 Arlington in the Galion District Semifinals.
