D2 & D3 Golfers Shine In Columbus
The Girls and Boys Division 2 and Boys Division 3 State Golf Tournaments concluded over the weekend
with area golfers achieving All-Ohio honors.
In Girls Division 2 the Shelby Whippets finished 12th in the state shooting a 742 over two days. They
were led by Nicole Jones, who shot 72-74 for a total of 146 and 7th place as an individual giving her All-
Ohio honors.
On the Boys side in Division 2, the Galion Tigers finished 6th in the state with a two-day total of 677.
They were led by Spencer Keller (73-84) and Matthew McMullen (75-82), who both finished with a two-
day score of 157 which was tied for 10th and good enough for All-Ohio honors.
Upper Sandusky's Brett Montgomery (74-77) finished tied for second as an individual with All-Ohio
honors, one shot behind the state champion as he shot a combined score of 151.
In Division 3 Boys action Seneca East finished 11th overall with a two-day score of 726. They were led
by Jake Forehand (78-83), who shot a combined 161 for 16th place overall.
East Knox's Drew Salyers (75-74) reached All-Ohio honors as an individual shooting a combined 149 to
tie for 2nd, one shot behind the state champion.
The Division 1 Boys and Girls State Golf Tournament takes place on Friday and Saturday in Columbus.
