BELLEVUE PUTS AWAY PERKINS BEHIND SANTORO'S 32
ASHLAND -- Second-seeded Bellevue knocked off conference foe Sandusky Perkins for the third time this season, avoiding an upset by the #10 Pirates with a 57-42 victory in the D2 District Semifinals.
It was a tightly contested matchup for much of the first three quarters, as the Lady Red (19-3) found themselves trailing by two heading the second at 12-10 before taking a 20-18 lead over Perkins (6-15) at the half.
Late in the third is where the Lady Red made their move, cruising into the fourth with a 42-34 advantage. Stifling defense that led to offense at the other end for Bellevue would allow them to put the game out of reach behind senior guard Casey Santoro who dropped a game-high 32 to earn Player of the Game honors.
