LUCAS -- The reigning kings of D7 Region 25 took another step towards defending their crown, riding their lockdown defense to a 21-7 victory over Independence at Bob Wine Field.

Second-seeded Lucas (6-2) forced three Blue Devils (6-2)

interceptions, including a pick-six by Next Generation Films Player of the Game Andrew Fanello. The Cubs completely shut down what had been an explosive Independence passing attack while their ground and pound offense controlled the clock and field position.

 

Touchdown runs by Cubs senior RB's Ethan Wallace and Ethan Sauder helped push Lucas into the Regional Semifinals where they will meet #6 McDonald in a rematch of last year's quarterfinal.
