UPPER SANDUSKY --- Upper Sandusky trailed Huron for most of the night but put together a dominating 18-4 stretch in the fourth quarter to knock off the Tigers, 63-60, in the Div III girls sectional semifinals.
The 11th-seeded Lady Rams fell into an early hole as #12 Huron rode the hot hand of Jessica Halsapple, who scored 10 of her team best 15 in the first quarter to a 25-15 advantage. Jenna Kurtz then knocked down three triples in the second to help Upper pull within 35-29 by the halftime break, but a hot shooting stretch from beyond the arc in the third would push the Tigers lead up to 56-45 entering the fourth.
With their pressure defense forcing Huron into several careless turnovers in the final frame, the Rams began to chip away at the deficit with a barrage of 3-pointers narrowing the gap. Kurtz and Zandria Gallant each knocked down a pair of fourth quarter triples to push Upper Sandusky into the lead where they would hold on for a big comeback win to advance into the sectional finals to face #1 Willard.
