MOUNT GILEAD --- Fifth-seeded Mt Gilead took the hardwood to host #17 Grandview Heights for the Division III Sectional Championship where the Indians would pull away to best the Bobcats 47-34.

 

Mount Gilead senior guard Holly Gompf was looking to cement her legacy in the records books and that she did, eclipsing the 1,000 point mark for her career. Gompf helped lead the Lady Indians on a 13-0 run early and they really never looked back. Every time the Bobcats would get a shot to come back, Gompf and the Indians answer back, building a halftime edge of 24-9. 

 

Grandview Heights showed some signs of life in the 3rd, cutting it to the lowest margin of the half at 9.

 

However, the Lady Indians would control the final two frames and escape with yet another tournament win behind some key performances from Gompf and Aubrey Thomas who combined for 20 points.

 

Mt Gilead will now travel to face #1 Worthington Christian in the D3 District Semifinals.
