MOUNT GILEAD -- A hot stretch for Mount Gilead in the second and third quarters pushed the Lady Indians to a 68-54 victory over East Knox in Saturday afternoon KMACtion.

Both teams started slow, then senior guard Holly Gompf caught fire for Mount Gilead (14-6, 8-5) to close out the first quarter, and remaining hot in the second as she dropped 18 of her game-best 22 points. The Lady Indians extended a 14-12 lead to start the second frame out to 43-25, pushing the Bulldogs (8-11, 5-7) deficit to more than 20 in the third.

It was 50-38 heading into the fourth where East Knox played hard, but never challenged Mt Gilead for the lead as the Indians closed out an impressive win on their home floor.
