Mt Gilead Suffocates Danville 64-43

MOUNT GILEAD --- With both Danville and Mt. Gilead struggling in recent times and desperate for a win, the Indians would get off to a slow start on Senior night but would recover for a 64-43 victory.

The Indians (4-6) and Blue Devils (1-13) went back and forth to start the 1st until Mt Gilead began to heat up from the field as they finished the quarter on a 6-0 run and really never looked back. Bland, Chafin, and Huffer dominated throughout the course of the game using their crafty ball handles and blazing speed to keep the home team on top.

The Indians Bland, who led the game with 18 points carried his team to victory. MG only allowed 10 points in the 2nd period due to their smothering defense and transition play. Heading into the lockers the score was 36-19 in favor of Mt Gilead while Danville could never really get anything going after that first quarter.

The Devils struggled to create any kind of offense and couldn't keep pace with the speedy guards for Mt Gilead as the Indians continued to dominate as the game went on, wrapping up the 3rd quarter with tremendous hustle and effort from forward Paul Butterman who had his fingerprints all over the game defensively.

The score after 3 was 53-29. and 4th quarter action was nothing but the same as young guards Bland and Chafin were premiere scorers in the contest willing Mt Gilead to a KMAC win.
