Carey Takes Out Crestview 42-14

CAREY -- A consistent run game and opportunistic defense kept #8 Carey out in front all night in a convincing 42-14 victory over #9 Crestview in the second round of the Division VI Region 22 playoffs.

The Blue Devils (7-1) marched down the field for a touchdown on their opening drive and never looked back, extending their margin to 14-0 with Ian Yeater and Cade Crawford each finding the end zone. The Cougars (6-2) countered with a big play in the passing game from Chase Shifflet to set up a short Connor Morse TD run, but Carey responded with Jacob Rinehart tasting paydirt to extend their lead to 21-7.

The teams swapped rushing scores to see the Blue Devils on top 29-14, before Carey again matched Crestview's touchdown with their own on the ensuing drive to all but cement the victory. Crawford and Rinehart each got into the end zone twice to help propel the Devils into the Regional Quarterfinals where they will travel to face #1 Archbold (7-0).
