COLUMBIAN KNOCKS OUT WEST HOLMES 34-24
TIFFIN -- The top-seed in Division III Region 10 punched their ticket into the championship round as #1 Tiffin Columbian closed out a 34-24 win over #12 West Holmes with big plays down the stretch to advance.
The Tornados (8-1) never trailed but would be pushed by the Knights (7-3), who matched Bryce Roggow's 16-yard TD catch with a 32-yard Brady Taylor screen pass for a score, but Columbian's star wideout LJ Reaves hauled in a 44-yard touchdown to make it 14-7 after the first quarter. West Holmes tied the game on a 57-yard bomb to Taylor but the Tornaodes responded with a Kesean Jackson score to give them a 21-14 halftime cushion.
The Knights would again draw even with Peyton McKinney throwing his third TD to Garrett Eastep but Columbian would again answer to pull ahead on a 50-yard catch and run by Jackson to make it 27-21.
A West Holmes field goal early in the fourth closed the gap to 27-24, but the Tornados special teams came up with a huge blocked punt to set up a game-clinching touchdown to secure Tiffin's spot in the Regional Championship against #6 Holy Name (7-1).
