SHELBY -- A sizzling start for Willard would set the stage for an upset victory over previously undefeated Colonel Crawford who could not shake off a slow start in a 70-48 loss at the Division III Shelby District semifinals.

Flashes (19-5) junior guard Trey Paxton went absolutely berzerk in the opening frame where he drained five triples to help give Willard a 23-8 advantage which ballooned to 43-18 by the half. In a stunning display, the state-ranked #3 Eagles (23-1) would fall behind by as many as 35 at the start of the second half and never made a run to put pressure on the Flashes who advance to face #2 Western Reserve for the district crown.
