BELLVILLE -- A fun non-league matchup between Richland County foes Lucas and Clear Fork saw the Colts gallop out to an early double-digit edge and fend off the Cubs late for a 62-53 victory.

 

With a 9-1 record over their last 10 games, Lucas (15-7) entered the valley with a ton of momentum but quickly fell behind to a steady Clear Fork (8-13) offense that was finding points all over the floor. The Colts followed a 26-14 first quarter spurt with a 37-22 halftime lead before having to ward off the Cubs in the second half.

 

An 18-13 third quarter stretch for Lucas closed the gap to 50-40 entering the final frame but a quick start to the fourth kept the Colts in front as the Cubs would never challenge for the lead.
