Redskins Clip Top-Seeded Hillsdale 5-2
MEDINA -- An early advantage for #5 Cuyahoga Heights lifted them to a 5-2 victory over #1 Hillsdale for a spot in the D4 Medina District Final.
Aidan Dopson delivered RBI for the Redskins in both the first and third innings to put the top-seeded Falcons in an 0-2 hole. Quality pitching from starter Jonathon Nejman would keep Cuyahoga Heights in front throughout the day, tossing a complete game while giving up 7 hits and striking of 5 hitters.
A Reece Garn RBI single would pull Hillsdale within a 2-1 score in the bottom of the fifth, but a costly error in the following frame would all but bury the Falcons. Two runs would cross the plate for the Redskins on an errant throw to first in the sixth before Eoin Honsaker raked an RBI double to give them a 5-1 cushion.
Hillsdale would threaten by adding a run and getting the tying score at the plate in the bottom of the seventh, but they could not generate enough offense to extend their season.
