Green Wave Crash Arrows Season,
Kick Last Second Field Goal For 17-14 Win
ASHLAND -- A hot Ashland start wouldn't be enough to get past Holy Name, who used a last-second field goal to knock off the Arrows 17-14 in the Division III Regional Semifinals at Community Stadium.
A 42-yard TD pass from Declan Rohr to Landon McFrederick followed by an Ethan Hartley touchdown run gave #2 Ashland (7-2) a 14-0 first-quarter lead, but the Green Wave defense would have a clean slate the rest of the way.
Following a big fourth-down stop bu the Holy Name defense, Kriztion Sanchez got them on the board with just over a minute remaining before the half and found the end zone again to tie the game midway through the third quarter. Both defensive units made great stops until the Green Wave were able to move into field goal range in the closing seconds where freshman kicker Jonathan Stanislo nailed the game-winner from 25 yards away.
